UPDATE (no more) Holy ads Batman
Great content and LOTS of respect for TC for going to the effort and expense to buy his IP back and make it available without being stuffed with ads! To be clear, I’m fine w some ads for players casts bc I’m not gonna pay a premium for everything I try or listen to but the corporate overlords had apparently been responsible for the absurd ad content. The decision to go it alone is commendable. And for that move alone I’m sending $$ your way.
Thank you!
Modern life needs morale wisdom from those who’ve been there and done it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts to make it more accessible for everyone!
You are so hard on yourself.
I can hear it clearly in the past episode. Please find pauses and spaces to be nothing, for. a. Mo. ment. Your impatience in this interview is to be reflected upon. Or, just take it easy my man. You’re a good person. Relax. Be with your good family.
Interesting and useful
I have been listening to this podcast for a couple of months now. I have scrolled back to much earlier episodes and also listened to the recent ones. I guess I have listened to about 100ish episodes. I am interested in Stoicism for the intellectual side of it, but more so for the practical usefulness of the ideas in it . Tanner is awesome. He explains it clearly in a modern context. Little anecdotes and analogies that are great ways to remember ideas. He speaks well. He has a great voice. I find him kind of funny too. I get a lot out of this podcast. He’s doing great work!! Five stars, hands down! Thanks Tanner! Keep firing!
Perfect Stoicism Podcast
Of the many stoicism podcast out there these days this is by far the best I have encountered. The host is nice to listen to and is clearly very knowledgeable, the sessions are well structured the topics are interesting and highly relevant and provided analysis and arguments are very thoughtful and invite you to think more about these important questions. Thank you very much Mr Campbell for providing us with this content that does not seem like self advertisement and maybe even helps some of us becoming better people!
A great companion on the Stoic journey
Been a listener for a while now and it has been a great addition to my Stoic practice. Tanner knows his stuff and isn’t afraid of tackling nuance and the nitty gritty. His recent rebranding to tackle political topics through a Stoic lens is most welcome; I can only hope that the wider audience (and world for that matter) can learn to apply the same consistent rationality in forming their political positions. It’s a shame to see misinterpretation of Stoicism as justification for vicious thinking; Tanner excels at confronting those misinterpretations.
Great Podcast
Thank you Tanner! The Stoic teachings help so much to filter out the noise of life and you have been so helpful with your approach to putting “theory into practice” for us. Looking forward to listening to your book on audible while I wait for the next episode!
A hidden gem
More people need to know about this podcast! I have been looking for a good podcast on Stocism, and I finally found the perfect one. The host has a clear, calm voice and explains Stoicism without yammering on like other podcasters, and he doesn’t spend the entire show building his merchandising empire. If you are new to Stoicism and want to know more about this amazing Philosophy (without all the bro talk and ego),this is the only podcast to listen to!
Addicted!
And no…I will not be seeking treatment. Found something so helpful and relevant to my midlife issues.
The journey begins
I am loving this podcast. Tanner, thank you so much for pouring your time into this podcast and sharing your insights. Brought here by tragedy I have turned towards stoicism to find a way to put it all into perspective. I’ve been making my way through the episodes from the beginning and following along with the meditations. In my forties now, looking at life through a more philosophical lens. Thanks for your relatable takes on this ancient wisdom. Thank you for being a part of my prokopton journey.
Practical and Accessible
I recently searched how to create equilibrium in my life, and this search brought me to websites about Stoicism. As I started reading and learning, I realized that there were many ideas and principles that appealed to me. I love listening to podcasts, and I tried a few before I stumbled upon this one. I’m so grateful I found it. The explanations are concise, logical, and easy to follow. The concepts are introduced one at a time, so the listener has time to really learn and digest them. Because they are short, it is easy to listen again if necessary. Keep up the excellent work.
Uplifting, honest and unpretentious
Tanner’s humility and earnest love for Stoicism shine through in this podcast, complemented by fascinating guest speakers and occasionally quite sophisticated arguments. This podcast has truly changed the way I think about life.
A Great Work Of Practical Thought
This podcast is quite refreshing. This is a great companion to podcasts like the daily stoic because this is a straight forward understanding of writings from stoic philosophers which leaves room for the listener to ponder rather than a long from discussion with many examples. I do love that too but this to me is something completely different and even minimalist in a profound way. I am am only into the 3rd book at this time and have listened for 2 days and can’t stop. Thank for your contribution.
Helpful
Tanner explain how to life a fulfilment life to stay focus on your goals and be something in your community. I would recommend for anyone looking to understand what stoicism is and how to use it!
Insightful
New to this topic, it has been an excellent introduction to Stoicism. A great way to begin 2025. I find myself listening to each episode multiple times to truly understand the topics. Thank you for this thoughtful podcast!
Great & Digestible
Tanner, you’re doing a great job. Thanks for continuing to produce high quality content.
Very recommended podcast
I was researching for knowledge of stoicism online, i thought: "i love podcasts, so i should search there". I did and i found this one. Excellent choice.
Short and to the point
He really breaks it down for the everyday person to understand
Everything it should be
Tanner Campbell has created something truly useful - I would recommend anyone and everyone to use it.
A tale in itself
I’ve been a listener of this podcast since the third or fourth episode. Listening to the show grow and change over the years has given me a lot of introspection into my own life. Tanner is a very down to earth host who can provide wisdom and tough love in equal measure. This is NOT a Broicism podcast, and you will find no sigma male grindset topics. Approach with an open mind about what you might even consider Western philosophy, and you will be sure to pick up points of consideration that will give you the tools you need to make the changes you want. 5 out of 5 podcast media groups.
Wonderful Listening
10/10 clear and worth listening to in a world of chaos.
Very… practical!
I discovered Ryan’s work about a year ago and am grateful. I was searching to understand what stoicism was about, in the most practical way and did an internet search. Fortunately the algorithm found this podcast and it’s been exactly what I needed. I’ve learned a lot. I’ve tread a few books on the topic, including a few of few of Ryan’s. I think he does a great job making it real. He’s also a hell of a writer and orator. Keep it up. I recommend this podcast to anybody who will listen. I think of it as the perfect palette cleanser for all the crazy in the world today.
Full of Value
Practical Stoicism is a bridge to an understanding we could use a great deal more of today. By listening to the explanations, translations and understandings of Mr. Campbell, I have found that the greater Understandings in this philosophy are so much easier to connect with. This philosophy is an active study in “being good” and this podcast makes it extremely accessible.
A great learning tool.
Tanner does a great job granting a deep and in-depth perspective to the Stoic canon. He can be a little heavy handed with the atheism, but I don’t think it detracts. He is a wonderful caretaker, curator, and translator of the Stoics and what they stood for. He makes the work digestible and approachable for any person. If you’re seeking to deepen your understanding of this wonderful and ancient philosophy, this is likely the best podcast out there.
